Carpet Friday!!!

Fireplace on dining room side. This is an old hickory beam from brother Kal's barn. It has tons of character. Notice Drew's Lighning McQueen car in the notch. That's a little decorating tip from Tyler.

Jeremy built this cabinet for me after I showed him a picture of it in the Pottery Barn Catalog. I'm looking for mis-matched, antique door knobs to go at the bottom for coat hooks.

Just need cabinet doors and countertop now. Actually, the island counter wont be square like that, but arched.

Another productive weekend!

The little bathroom. Still needs countertop, but completely usable.


The pantry all finished. Now I get to fill it!


Glenn's paint booth in the garage. This is where he sprayed all the interior and exterior doors. Another project this weekend was to get this all cleaned up. Just a little more sweeping and it's clean.

Some more pics for those that have asked. I didn't post originally because I couldn't really get good shots of each room. First is laundry room (duh), second is office.

....well, except the flooring and the counter top.

I painted stripes in Drew's nursery years ago. I won't forget again how much of a pain they are.

FINALLY.....

.....some finished pictures. Well, almost finished. This is the master bedroom. The first shot taken from the bathroom doorway and the second, from the entry to the room.

Summer work

With the outside work now complete (thanks to Emily's grad party) work on the inside has resumed at a pretty good clip.

Here is our front porch with the "Touch of the North Ceiling" that we completed last weekend. Still have to finish up some trim work, but this is a good idea of what it will look like.


I had to lay it all out in the garage first, after polyurethane-ing it TWICE, so I could get a good pattern of blended wood species and colors. What a pain.


This was all the left over we had when we were finished. Cutting it a little too close if you ask me.


This is the coffered ceiling and shell of the entertainment center in the living room. We've actually had this material for almost 7 years. Finally, it's fulfilling it's intended purpose. (And the humongous pile of hardwood flooring chilling out and getting acclimated to the house, awaiting installation)

And the beginning of the shell of the kitchen cabinets, just done today. FINALLY! The end is in sight.

Beginning of June

This post is for Randy K and Pat who have both been quite vocal in letting me know that I haven't posted pictures in a while. :)

A lot has been done since the last post. We've pulled off work on the inside to get the outside ready for Emily's grad party in two weeks. Nice in a way because otherwise, most of this stuff wouldn't get done for several more months.

Glenn on his 400th trip around the house in preparation for seeding. We heard we are supposed to get a heavy rain tonight so we are holding off on planting until we see what happens.
